How to release my name as co-signer on a house. It was a bad breakup and my ex is about to go to jail.?

My current girlfriend purchased a home together with her Ex boyfriend. Both of their names are on the contract and on the loan, eversince she moved out last year the house payments are currently 3 to 6 months delinquent and its greatly affecting her credit score. The ex is about to get prosecuted for something and will not coordinate in helping her get out of the title and loan. WHAT CAN SHE DO ?How to release my name as co-signer on a house. It was a bad breakup and my ex is about to go to jail.?
I know if you rent an apartment in ';both'; names then ';both'; are responsible no matter what happens. I know if you rent an apartment in ';one'; name and then another name is added later and one doesn't pay then the other person must go after the first person to get them to pay and the owner of the property doesn't care who pays they just want the money but they will only go after the ';one'; person on the lease.

Knowing the above from experience, since both your gf and her exbf were on the home purchase together then one name can't be removed unless either one person pays off the other person's part of the home and lets them out that way of the contract, or a paper is signed by her given to him that says she is out of the deal and approves her losing the money she put into the house, it's called a Quit Claim Deed and she should see her attorney to accomplish this. Either way could free her from her liability, however her name will stay on any loan paperwork (even though she wouldn't owe her part anymore) until the house is sold by the exbf. How to release my name as co-signer on a house. Call her mortgage servicer to discuss the situation and see if they will provide some sort of relief. Good luck!
Here's the deal.... you signed because that actual loan holder didn't have good enough credit to get the loan on her own....

so therefore they wanted someone else to fall back on in case she fell thru... which is what she did... sorry but you are responsible...

you can try to see if they will work with your... but don't plan on it...
